Welcome to the Retail Management Institute
Santa Clara University

The Retail Management Institute is part of the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. The institute was formed in 1980 by Santa Clara faculty members working with an Advisory Board of leading figures in Northern California retailing. Today the RMI advisory board includes national leaders in the retail industry.

The three main areas of the Institute are The Retail Studies Program, a Minor in Retail Studies that produces Institute graduates that are strongly motivated and highly educated in both business and the humanities.
See Retail Minor Requirements.

The Retail Workbench Research and Education Center which aims to expand knowledge and solve important problems using advanced information technologies. Retailers are served, too, by the institutes open-enrollment Management Development Programs for leading Retail Executives.

"The whole Retail Management Institute program is terrific. It brings together senior executives from leading retail companies to exchange ideas, learn what the issues of the day are-and share this with the students. The institute turns out wonderful graduates; we've hired some each year. It's a program more other universities ought to have."

Howard Lester, Chairman - Williams-Sonoma
